Job Description
Working in the Water Quality Services Department, the purpose of this role is to ensure water treatment processes at works are appropriate for the quality of the abstracted water, efficient and producing high quality drinking water which complies with the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016.
Principal accountabilities
Provide day to day water quality support to Production colleagues.
Ensure water quality audits at treatment works are satisfactory.
Provide supplementary training to Production colleagues regarding treatmentwater quality matters.
Appropriate actions are taken following sample failures or unusual results.
Recommendations from DWI are implemented & monitored.
Appropriate advice is given to support Production colleagues.
Water Quality procedures related to Production issues are up to date and followed.
Authorise risk assessment method statements
May decide if installations are returned to service.
Monitor and identify remedial measure to address medium to long term water quality trends and issues
Requirements
Previous water industry experience in either Water Quality or Production and supply
A full UK driving licence.
A scientific degree or UK water industry experience, preferably in water treatment
A thorough understanding of water production, supply and distribution and how this can impact upon water quality.
A good understanding of Geology, Hydrogeology and Hydrology
Communicating with all levels of staff both internally and externally, verbally or in writing.
Understanding water quality information & data from treatment processes
Confident, flexible and professional at all times, able to work effectively as part of the Water Quality team.
Exercising judgement in interpreting sample results and in giving advice to Production colleagues.
Understanding and ensuring compliance with company procedures and the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016
