WASHINGTON – U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has unveiled its Strategic Plan for FY 2023-2026, outlining its commitment to fortify its capabilities and contribute to the realization of the nation’s highest ideals. Grounded in USCIS’ enduring purpose and core values, the plan emphasizes the agency’s dedication to fostering a stronger, more inclusive, and welcoming United States.
According to USCIS Director Ur M. Jaddou, “Through its work, USCIS transforms the promise of America into reality for immigrants worldwide, the communities and economies they join and support, and the entire nation. USCIS is committed to reducing barriers to immigration benefits and services, and we have much more to accomplish to fulfill the Biden-Harris Administration’s vision for our immigration system—a vision based on trust, strength, inclusion, integrity, and accessibility.”
The strategic plan outlines three primary long-term goals aimed at improving the nation’s immigration system, enhancing the naturalization process, cultivating a skilled and diverse USCIS workforce, fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, ensuring fiscal sustainability, and advancing modernization efforts to introduce additional online filing options.
Goal 1 – Strengthen the U.S. Immigration System: USCIS aims to develop immigration policies, regulations, strategies, processes, and communications that uphold a robust and trustworthy immigration system promoting integration, inclusion, and citizenship.
Goal 2 – Invest in Our Workforce: The agency seeks to attract, recruit, train, and retain a diverse, adaptable, and resilient workforce that drives high-performance and reflects the diversity of the nation.
Goal 3 – Promote Effective and Efficient Management and Stewardship: USCIS aims to enhance its organizational capabilities to efficiently and effectively utilize, manage, and share entrusted resources. The agency will evaluate and balance competing demands and priorities in alignment with its mission.
The objectives outlined in the strategic plan align with the agency’s ongoing efforts to expand access to eligible immigration benefits, reduce unnecessary burdens within the immigration system, and rebuild trust and confidence among immigrant communities. USCIS remains committed to upholding America’s promise as a nation of welcome and opportunity, guided by principles of fairness, integrity, and respect for all it serves.
