Background

Job Summary:

The service provides essential additional capacity to the Urgent, on the day services offered across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Currently there are daily presentations at A&E departments, across all the acute providers that could be dealt with by clinicians in the community. The role of this team is to provide that urgent on the day service that reduces pressures on A&E and the ambulance services and keeps patients out of hospital and safe in the community. Ultimately this service will be offered out of 3 locations across the county to make it accessible to all.

This service is 8am – 8pm 7 days per week.

Job responsibilities:

The post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage calls, checking and signing of repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness, in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols and national guidance.

Completion of clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service.

Refer patients for further opinions and interventions according to local referral protocols and national guidance.

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.

Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.

Participate in supporting the wider multi-disciplinary clinical team where necessary.

In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Based at- City Care Centre, Peterborough

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: £75.00 per hour
